Find your screenshots in Photos
Your iPhone keeps every screenshot in its own collection, so you never have to dig through the whole camera roll. Open Photos, tap Collections, scroll down to Media Types and tap Screenshots.
Screenshots add up faster than most people think. One iMore writer found 21,704 screenshots in a library of 52,876 photos, about 40% of everything.
Delete all screenshots at once
- In the Screenshots collection, tap Select.
- Tap Select All if you see it at the top. If not, drag your finger across the screenshots to pick many in one sweep.
- Tap the bin and confirm.
Look before you clear. Screenshots often hold tickets, codes and receipts you may still need.
Get the space back
Deleted screenshots are not gone yet. They wait in Recently Deleted for 30 days. To free the space now, open Collections, tap Recently Deleted, unlock it with Face ID, Touch ID or your passcode, then tap Select, the More button and Delete All.
Clear them all in Scrub
In Scrub, open Sweep and tap Screenshots to see every screenshot in one place, with the space they take, and clear them in one go. There is a pile for Screen recordings too, which are videos and add up even faster.
Rather decide one by one? Start Swipe with just your screenshots: left to delete, right to keep, and Undo if you change your mind. Nothing is deleted until you review your list and confirm. You can try every pile free with 5 items, and Scrub Pro clears the rest.
Stop screenshots piling up
Since iOS 26, a new screenshot opens full screen. If you only needed it for a moment, tap the checkmark and choose Delete Screenshot, or Copy and Delete to paste it somewhere without keeping it. Swipe it away to save it as usual.
Careful with the close button in that view: it throws the screenshot away instead of saving it. That catches a lot of people out and is the usual reason screenshots seem to stop saving.
Prefer screenshots out of sight without deleting them? In Library, tap the sort and filter button, then View Options, and turn off Screenshots.
Do not forget screen recordings
Screen recordings are videos, so even a few can take far more space than hundreds of screenshots. They have their own collection under Media Types, Screen Recordings. More ways to clear space in how to free up storage on your iPhone.
